BIO: LINDA LEACH

Linda Leach is graduating with an associate degree in visual arts from RVCC. She has experimented a great deal with numerous mediums and has grown quite fond of pastels and oils. Though she has more experience creating 2-dimensional works, sculpture has been a very rewarding format for her this last year.  Linda plans to continue her education through workshops and seminars and hopes to someday make a living off her work. The family plan is a move to Vermont, her husband's home state, where she hopes to exhibit her work in a local gallery. Visit her website to see more of her work:

WORK STATEMENT: "SOLITARY CONFINEMENT IN A VIRAL WORLD" pastel on paper, 19 x 27 inches, 2020

The original intent of this composition was to represent the final stages of an Alzheimer's victim's mind. A person we can only imagine to be filled with fear and despair - their mind closed off from the beauty of the world around them. I do think this piece can also represent the isolation felt by the single or elderly person during the COVID-19 pandemic. With no other person in their home, and having been ordered to stop working and to remain inside without company or visitors for fear of infection or death....our current situation - like Alzheimer's, is a very scary time of endless empty days and nights.
