COVID-19 INTROSPECTIVE RETROSPECTIVE
a virtual exhibition showcasing the work of the spring 2020 portfolio development class at RVCC
BIO: MARISSA STAMLER
Marissa is currently finishing her third semester at RVCC. Initially a fine arts major, she recently switched into the graphic and interactive design program, where she's developed a love for design. If everything goes according to plan, she hopes to earn her associates degree by the end of the 2021 winter before transferring to earn her BFA elsewhere. Currently, Marissa is not quite sure where that somewhere is just yet!
WORK STATEMENT: "STILL LIFE at 3pm" digital, 18 x 12.5 inches, 2020
The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought the world to a halt. For the first time in my life, everything is still. Sitting in place inside my home, I've been noticing little things in my everyday life that I am normally too busy to recognize. The work I made for this exhibition is a still life capturing the sunlight through a window at 3pm - a golden streak that brought me hope. The food is plentiful and I feel at peace, yet outside it is dark. Could it be that I lost track of time...?
