a virtual exhibition showcasing the work of the spring 2020 portfolio development class at RVCC
BIO: ISABELLA CRUZ
Isabella Cruz is an art student at RVCC where she is about to finish her AFA degree in visual arts. She has a range of interests in the visual arts, from working with graphite and ink on paper to creating large-scale oil paintings. Much of her artistic journey is about trying new techniques and approaches to art making. Like many artists, she finds the task of choosing a specific artistic path to follow daunting. For the moment, Isabella’s goal is to carve out a career path that engages her personal interests and strengths while remaining challenging, creative, and fulfilling to her as a person.

The Coronavirus has ravaged society in unimaginable ways. This pandemic has brought out much of the ugly side of society and the current functioning of our world. Social, racial, economic, and financial disparities within our country have been violently exposed by this experience. The true lack of intelligence and leadership that has been running this country has been revealed as well. COVID-19’s impact on humanity has cracked the facade of a well-functioning society where all are equal and treated equally, and has instead, created a much harsher reality.
