WORK STATEMENT: "WINDOW PAINS” digital (Illustrator & Photoshop), 12 x 16 inches, 2020
I started my Covid-19 piece with the concept of being stuck inside, staring out the window at an empty road. In the grass, I incorporated imagery that has personally affected me such as a sign depicting the closing of a music venue, empty store shelves, and a sports arena being disinfected. The sidewalk shows the number of deaths due to the virus (as of April 19th, 2020) beginning with those in Somerset County, NJ and continuing through the global death toll. I created a pattern using an image of the virus that was then applied to the drapes and other parts of the imagery as a digital overlay.
